LAFAYETTE, La. — Nutrition Krewe in Lafayette has partnered with the United Cajun Navy and will be donating 100% of its profits and gratuities through Thursday, April, 22, to help fund the United Cajun Navy’s search and rescue efforts for the missing crew from the Seacor Power lift boat.

The Senior Nutrition Program is part of Stanly County Senior Services. Lunch is served to anyone 60 and older at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Sites are in Albemarle (1816 E. Main St.), Locust (101 Park Dr.), Norwood (247 Turner St.), and Oakboro (626 Long St.). There is no set charge for this service. Donations are accepted. All meals must be ordered at least a day in advance.

AMES, Iowa — “Stay Independent: A Healthy Aging Series” is a new program in nutrition and wellness for adults aged 60 and older offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

USDA: Nutrition Assistance Expanded for Seniors Amid Pandemic with American Rescue Plan Funding



The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced this week that it is increasing food assistance to low-income seniors – a population that has been especially hard-hit by the pandemic – by providing nearly $37 million in additional support to the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). States and Tribal nations will receive the new funding from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act to serve additional seniors, in addition to up to $2.6 million in administrative funds from a previous COVID relief bill.
